Turkish Foreign Minister must resign

Facts

While visiting Montevideo, Uruguay, on Saturday, April 23, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu appeared in front of a crowd of angry protesters.

They were gathered to condemn the negationist policy of Turkey, on the eve of the commemorations of the Armenian Genocide, a tragedy in history that Turkey still refuses to recognize.

With shouts of "murderer" (asesino in Spanish), the minister got into a vehicle and smiled at the crowd, taunting them.

And then he decided to show them the Grey Wolves symbol, a Turkish ultranationalist group banned in several countries -- a Turkish equivalent to German Nazis.

Consequences must follow

This man is the highest Turkish diplomat. He represents his country abroad.

This man displayed this racist symbol to the descendants of the victims of the Genocide of which his nation is guilty. The eve of the day they remember this tragedy.

This man is in charge of the ongoing negotiations for "appeasement" with Armenia. The Armenian government cannot in any way keep on entertaining this disgusting character.

This man must resign. He has no business being in diplomacy.

If it had been a neo-Nazi, moreover in front of the Jewish community, he would have been criminally prosecuted, and at the very least considered persona non grata for life.

No real democracy whould work with a man like this.

He must be called out anywhere he goes. Gatherings, letters to officials... everything must be done to ensure that he goes back to his cave and never steps outside again.

Turkish ultranationalism has done enough damage. The very idea must disappear, and its supporters shamed and banished.

It's up to us to put pressure where it is needed.
